Hail Silva Vulcani! I would like to announce a brewing competition that I am currently working on. I realize it is very early, but in terms of brewing this may be coming a bit late:
Kings Crossing Inaugural Brewing Competition
Hosted by The Shire of Kings Crossing at the 2018 Kings Crossing Birthday B(R)all on October 27th. This event is held at the Chartiers Community Center, 2013 Community Center Drive, Houston, PA 15342
Rules for Entry: This competition will be open to all home brewed beverages. This won't be a single category competition, but rather a "best of show". So all brew types will be judged together under the same judging rubric. (As per PA state law no distilled beverages permitted.)
The competition format will be based on the 60 point judging rubric using AEthelmearc A&S approved brewing criteria: http://brewers.aethelmearc.org/60ptRubric.pdf
Deadline for entries is October 27th at 11AM. I will be using the standard entry form from the brewer's guild site: http://brewers.aethelmearc.org/EntryForm.pdf
Hard copies of the form will be available at the site as well. Judging will start at 1:00PM sharp.
I will be the acting steward of the competition (Lord Jodocus Van Cleeff), you may message me via facebook with any questions about the competition or via email firstname.lastname@example.org
Just a note: contestants will need to supply their own wine chillers. There may be some space in the fridges at the facility, but that is the domain of the feastocrat, and I dare not intrude upon their lair and tangle with the likes of them!
The competition will be actively judged. I will need a few good judges. Ideally three, with one or two seasoned judges that could potentially help train new judges.
In addition to the brewing competition I would also like to host a round table discussion geared towards those that are new to brewing or those that would like to start brewing but don't know where begin.
I hope that we will have a fair number of ... See more
