We are moving to the Hael and in preparation are having a moving sale. There will be a small corner with SCA specific stuff! Some garb, a bit of fabric, other craft stuff, a few old armor bits, and other items still to be dug out of my basement. In addition, Edmund is parting with his entire collection of pre-current-canon Star Wars paperbacks. We are even going to weed out the SciFi and bound comics collections. Plus all the stuff listed in the event ad. Sale is October 20 & 21 from 8AM to 2PM each day. 103N Broad St Extended, corner of Hill Ave, in Nazareth, one block north of the boro park. Cheers, Kelda

Under the Grenewode Hosted By: Barony of Blackstone Mountain and the Shire of Port Oasis
Royal Progress:

The rustic folk from the southern wilderness invite all to join them in a festival of peasant delights. The nobles are long in returning from the Great Pennsic War, and whilst they are away the peasants will play! Without the nobles to keep them in check, the villagers have escaped the summer heat under the leaves of the Grenewode. D’off your titles, circlets, belts, and finery, all the better to join in our peasant revels. For them what like to bash the others there is a fine bear-baiting for heavy fighters. News of foxes stealing the hens means a merry chase across the meadow; and a contest to tell the Tallest Tale will happen ‘round the fire circle. Games of skill and hazard for all. The Fae Folk may misdirect you on the way to your destination, and the stream will cool your weary feet. Tokens will be earned for participation; and the one with the most points will “crowned” Peasant King/Queen at the feast.

Good Evening! I have been posting information as soon as I get it. I talked to one of our Heavy Marshals, Baron Ulrich, and he gave me the format for the 2 Heavy Prize tournaments at the 7 Pearls event.

Tournament 1) Warlord Tourney: to enter this you must bring a prize, between $10 and $25 in value, that will be added to the Prize chest for the winning team.

Fighters will fight 1 on 1, with the winner becoming captain of that team. Then the team of 2 squares off against each other, and the captain of the winning team becomes the captain of both teams. Eventually all the fighters will be on one of 2 teams, then those teams fight, with the captain of the winning team becoming the warlord. The winning team gets the prize chest to split. The captains of the two final teams also get a prize donated by Baron Ulrich.

Tournament 2) Holmgangr: the Marshals will set up a small list. To win a bout, you can either knock your opponent out of the list, or land a telling blow per standard SCA rules. This will be a either a round robin, or a double elimination depending on the size of the field. Winner, gets a carved horn from Valhalla Horns.

Baronial Archery Champions, your shoot is designed by Lady Annora O'Duelaghane (Lynn Sylvester) and Marshaled by herself and Master Ambrosious (Gary McDivitt) the format is as follows.
The 7 Pearl Archery Champions Tourney will be a novelty shoot. An evil oyster has taken the kingdom’s prized pearl. The archer that defeats the oyster wins the tourney. There are 3 stations that will challenge the archers on their journey. Each station will eliminate 2-3 archers:

Station 1 (Ground target): Getting the Supplies
Archers have 4 arrows to get goggles, flippers, and snorkel.
1 point for each item shot
Each of the 3 items must be shot prior to getting points for the extra arrow.

Station 2 (Friend/Foe): Run to Your Ride
We took too long to get supplies and are rushing to get our boat before it departs.
2 points for shooting the boat
-1 point for shooting the boat captain
Unknown timed end

Station 3 (Distance): Defeat the Oyster
Archers get 6 arrows to defeat the evil oyster and get back our pearl. This shoot needs to be at a bit of distance to remain concealed.
2 points for shooting the oyster
3 points for shooting the pearl to nock it out of the oyster’s mouth

Baronial Thrown Weapons Champions Your Tournament will be Marshal by THL Gytha (Lori Drake) and the Format will be as follow. Good Luck

Below is the format for the 7 Pearls TW tournament. I will send you a score sheet as soon as I make one up (probably tonight.)

Target #1: A standard Royal Round score. Standard target (10/7/4/1 scoring). 4 knives and 4 axes from 10 feet, 2 knives and 2 axes from 20 feet.

Target #2: Reverse Royal Round. Standard target (where the outside of the scoring area, normally the 1 point area, becomes the 10 point area, the 4 point area becomes the 7, etc…) 4 knives and 4 axes from 10 feet, 2 knives and 2 axes from 20 feet.

Target #3: Royal round scoring, but for each weapon (knife or axe) duplicate scores count as 0. (Each scoring area can only be scored on once 10, 7, 4, and 1.) Scoring always counts as the highest score if the weapon crosses the line into another scoring area.

Example: The first knife hits the line between the 10-point and 7-point areas. It counts as 10 points. The second knife also hits the line between the 10-point and 7-point areas. It counts as a 0 because the thrower already scored on the 10-point area with knives. The thrower must try to hit the 7, 4, or 1 point areas with their remaining two knives. The throws with axes are scored using the same process as the knives.

This throw is done with 4 knives from 10 and then repeated with 4 axes from 10 feet. It also includes 2 knives and 2 axes from 20 feet.

Target #4: A Spear Royal Round. Standard royal round scoring. 4 spears from 10 feet and 2 spears from 20 feet.

If we cannot get bales of hay for the spear target, we will set up a 4th standard throwing target and split up the previous three throws.

There are a maximum of 395 points.

From Barbary Rose. .I had plans to attend the meeting tomorrow but looks like that won't be happening..stupid illness!
I have a request from the Barony..I need everyone to contact me if you have done anything A&S related since the last meeting in July...did you produce scrolls for kingdom or barony? Working on garb, armor, cooking, etc?
Quarterly reports for Kingdom are due September 1, and I'd like to mention all of the great things that we're doing 😊
I have not been as involved as I would have liked, so I need your help!
Thank you in advance!

Do not forget Under the Grenewode Hosted By: Barony of Blackstone Mountain and the Shire of Port Oasis
